Iran to Acquire 60% Enriched Uranium Next Week: Envoy - Tasnim News Agency

 (Tasnim) – Iran has begun enriching uranium hexafluoride to the purity level of 60% in two cascades of newer generation of centrifuge machines and will accumulate the product next week, Iranian envoy to the IAEA said.

Turkey has no intention of and no technology for the production of nuclear weapons, Turkeys energy minister says.

Claims in the German daily Die Welt that Turkey is seeking to acquire enriched uranium with the goal of building a nuclear weapon, were denied by Turkey's Energy Minister Taner Yildiz on Wednesday.

"Turkey has no intention and no technology for nuclear weapons production" said Yildiz. "Turkey is a member of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and audited by the organization. Also Turkey is a party of 4 main concerned agreements."

Yildiz stated that Turkey has no uranium enrichment operation, saying the claims in German newspaper Die Welt are a political campaign to discredit the government.

Tony Abbott: Australia bans uranium sales to Russia. (will set up an embassy in Kiev in show of solidarity)

SYDNEY: Australia on Wednesday (Sep 3) banned uranium sales to Russia over its actions in Ukraine while announcing it will set up an embassy in Kiev and may offer military assistance.
The announcement by Prime Minister Tony Abbott came just days after Canberra said it would toughen its sanctions against Moscow so they match those of the European Union. Abbott told parliament uranium sales were on hold until further notice. "Australia has no intention of selling uranium to a country which is so obviously in breach of international law as Russia currently is," he said.

Moscow concerned about unjustified accumulation fissile materials. -Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Moscow is concerned about the accumulation of weapons-grade fissile materials in some countries that have no nuclear weapons and hopes the United States will play a more active role in solving this issue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the opening on the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague on Monday, March 24.
“Along with the programme to return fresh and irradiated highly-enriched uranium from Russian-design nuclear research reactors to Russia, launched in 2002, we have also been converting the cores of these reactors from using highly-enriched uranium to low-enriched uranium or halting their operation altogether,” the minister said.

«Ανυπόστατοι είναι οι ισχυρισμοί για ύπαρξη κοιτασμάτων ουρανίου στο Ν. Κιλκίς» αναφέρει, σε ανακοίνωσή του, το Ινστιτούτο Γεωλογικών και Μεταλλευτικών Ερευνών (ΙΓΜΕ), με αφορμή δημοσιεύματα προερχόμενα από τοπικούς παράγοντες του Ν. Κιλκίς και οργανώσεις ακτιβιστών.
Οι πληροφορίες ανέφεραν ότι στην περιοχή Κρούσια - Πάικο, στην οποία έγινε μίσθωση, υπάρχουν «...κοιτάσματα ουρανίου σε μεγάλες ποσότητες που τεκμηριώνονται από μελέτες και μετρήσεις του ΙΓΜΕ και αντίστοιχων υπηρεσιών άλλων κρατών...», με αποτέλεσμα να διατρέχει κίνδυνο η υγεία των κατοίκων από τη «…ραδιενεργή σκόνη...».
