The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in a statement Saturday... that Iran, as it said it would, has started enriching uranium to 60 percent purity.
That's a major step toward making a nuclear weapon, and it complicates talks with other countries on a return to the nuclear deal. According to Reuters, the IAEA clarified to member states in a separate, confidential report... that it had taken samples from Iran's nuclear facility at Natanz... and found that the uranium was enriched to a level of 55-point-3 percent.
Iran had said it would step up its enrichment... in response to the attack a week ago on the Natanz facility, an act Iran says was Israeli sabotage, and which media reports say was indeed carried out by Israel's intelligence agency.
