Japanese defence force jet missing

Tokyo, April 6: A plane of the Japanese Air Self-Defence Force (ASDF) went missing around 2.35 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday over the prefecture of Kagoshima, with about six people on board, according to the media reports.

The U-125 jet took off around 1.15 p.m. from an airbase at the Kanoya city in the prefecture and disappeared around 2.35 p.m. north of the base, said the public broadcaster NHK.

The SDF dispatched helicopters to search for the missing plane.

    Japan's Ministry of Defense (MOD) said Thursday afternoon it had found the wreckage of an Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) jet that disappeared from radar a day earlier in a mountainous region in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, according to local reports, but feared its 6 occupants had died in the crash.

    Preliminary reports from a senior ministry official said that its six occupants were found in a "state of cardiac arrest," and were showing no vital signs of life at the site of the wreckage on a mountain in the prefecture.

    An eye witness reported seeing smoke rising from the mountainous Takakuma area near the Japan Air Self-Defense Forces' (JASDF) Kanoya airbase in Kagoshima Prefecture, according to local reports, but searches were initially hampered by heavy fog and inclement weather, following the plane going off the radar early Wednesday afternoon......http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/977575.shtml
