Opposition leaders called for an early presidential election following a
Saturday meeting with the government, where top government posts were
offered to protest leaders and a review of the constitution was
promised.The proposal to offer positions within the Ukrainian government to opposition leaders will be considered by all three parties and discussed with the people, Batkivschina leader Arseny Yatsenyuk said.
“We are not rejecting the offer, nor are we accepting it. We are in the midst of serious consultations between all three opposition parties. This is our mutual decision,” he said. “We are ready to take on the responsibility for the country’s future, but only under the conditions that will be set by us.”
- The opposition is ready to head up the government and bring Ukraine into the EU, Yatsenyuk added.
"Our country is put by those at power to the brink of falling apart...We demand that Yanukovich relieves the position of Ukraine's president and we need a new constitution."
Following the talks, the head of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform party, Vitaly Klitschko, said that Yanukovich agreed to many demands. “But we do not step back and demand elections this year,” he told protesters.
“What is Yanukovich ready for? For release and amnesty of all those detained. To work on getting back to the constitution of 2004. Dismissal of government on certain conditions. [He] still does not agree to abolish dictatorial laws, but only to amend them,” Klitschko added.
“Our demands: get rid of those laws...have presidential elections this year. Negotiations are continuing and we must hold on. And we will not succumb to any provocations.”
Leader of the nationalist Svoboda opposition party, Oleg Tyagnibok, told protesters that those in power are backing down and changing their tune from two days ago.

ReplyDeleteUkraine's opposition says it will continue protests despite President Viktor Yanukovych's offer to appoint two top opposition leaders to key government posts.
Opposition leaders say they will continue demonstrations until their calls for an early election, release of detained protesters and a repeal of anti-protest laws are met.
Meanwhile Sunday, thousands of protesters gathered in Kyiv to mourn a 25-year-old protester shot dead during clashes last week.
Earlier Sunday, protesters in central Kyiv blocked a government building with police inside. Demonstrators threw stones and smoke bombs while police fired stun grenades and tear gas. Police and security forces later left the building after a corridor was created.
On Saturday in Kyiv's Independence Square, Arseniy Yatsenyuk told a crowd of protesters the opposition is "not afraid" of accepting more political responsibility. There are people convicted for gravest crimes among those detained over riots in Kiev...
ReplyDeleteKIEV, January 26, 17:00 /ITAR-TASS/. There are people who have been convicted for committing extremely grave crimes among those detained over mass riots in the Ukrainian capital city Kiev, the press service of the Ukrainian interior ministry said on Sunday.
“Among those detained there are people who have had problems with the law, some have been convicted on charges of extremely grave crimes,” the press service said.
As many as 166 people have been taken to police stations on suspicion of taking part in the upheavals in central Kiev. As many as 81 of them have been officially recognized as suspects.

ReplyDelete26.01.2014 · Im Zentrum Kiews hat die Opposition das „Ukrainische Haus“ gestürmt. Dort sollten sich Sondereinheiten der Regierung einnisten. Mit vielen kleinen Nadelstichen im ganzen Land drängen die Demonstranten das Regime Janukowitsch in die Defensive.
Ein Nadelstich mehr: Wieder sind Scheiben zerborsten, und wieder folgt am Tag danach das große Saubermachen. Vor dem „Ukrainischen Haus“ sind diese vierschrötigen Kerle aufgezogen, die Hundertschaften der Revolution in ihren selbstgemachten Uniformen, mit ihren mittels Klebeband auf Arme und Beine geklebten Schaumstoffpolstern, unrasiert nach so vielen Tagen des Kampfes, auf den Köpfen alle nur denkbaren Arten von Helmen: Bauhelme, Motoradhelme, Fahrradhelme, und dazu in erstaunlicher Menge altsowjetische Militärhelme.
Abermals hat die Opposition ein prominentes Gebäude im Zentrum der ukrainischen Hauptstadt Kiew in ihre Gewalt gebracht: Das „Ukrainische Haus“, einen Monumentalbau der spätsowjetischen Betonästhetik, erbaut als Sitz des „Allunions-Lenin-Museums“. Opposition attempts to seize city administration building in Ukraine’s Zaporozhye ...
ReplyDeleteOpposition activists have made an attempt to seize the building of the city administration in the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye, the Ukrainian news television channel TSN reported on Sunday.
The building is cordoned off by the policemen who are trying to hold in a crowd of several thousands of protesters. They police are aided by incumbent town authorities.
The city’s police department opened a criminal case over an attempted seizure of the administration building, the press service of the Zaporozhye prosecutor’s office said.

Ukraine: 15 policiers blessés à Vinnitsa....
ReplyDeleteQuinze policiers ont été blessés dimanche lors de l'assaut lancé par l'opposition contre l'administration de la région de Vinnitsa, dans l'ouest de l'Ukraine, rapporte l'agence UNIAN, se référant à l'antenne locale du ministère de l'Intérieur.
"Suites à l'assaut contre le siège de l'administration régionale lancé par des radicaux, dix policiers ont été hospitalisés avec des blessures de différente gravité, et en cinq autres ont sollicité une aide médicale", a indiqué la source.
Des procédures pénales ont engagées.
La crise politique qui secoue l'Ukraine depuis fin novembre a connu un rebond en janvier suite à l'adoption d'une loi sur les manifestations. Les protestataires ont érigé des barricades et attaqué les policiers à coups de pierres, de fumigènes et de cocktails Molotov et occupé les sièges de l'administration locale dans une série de régions. Les forces de l'ordre ont été autorisées à riposter en employant des grenades aveuglantes et assourdissantes.

Manifestations en Ukraine - L'UE appelle le pouvoir à remplir ses promesses à l'opposition...
ReplyDeleteL'Union européenne a appelé lundi le pouvoir ukrainien à "remplir les promesses" faites à l'opposition pendant le week-end, tout en demandant à cette dernière de se désolidariser des manifestants ayant recours à la violence.
"Nous demandons au gouvernement de remplir les promesses et annonces faites lors des négociations avec l'opposition", a indiqué la délégation de l'UE à Kiev dans un communiqué. "Les négociations doivent continuer". A l'issue de pourparlers samedi, le président Viktor Ianoukovitch a proposé le poste de Premier ministre à l'opposant Arséni Iatséniouk et celui de vice-Premier ministre à l'ex-boxeur Vitali Klitschko. Il s'est aussi dit prêt à discuter d'une révision de la Constitution visant à céder une partie de ses pouvoirs au gouvernement. Les leaders de l'opposition, qui exigent notamment une élection présidentielle anticipée, se sont dits déterminés à poursuivre leur mouvement tant que toutes leurs demandes n'auront pas été acceptées. L'UE a exprimé en outre "son inquiétude à propos de la détérioration de la situation des droits de l'homme", dénonçant "des arrestations de personnes blessées devant des cliniques, plusieurs cas de disparition et de torture". "Cesser ces pratiques est un prérequis pour rétablir la confiance entre le gouvernement et la société", a indiqué la délégation. L'UE s'est également adressé à l'opposition, appelée "à maintenir le caractère pacifique des manifestations et à se dissocier clairement de tous ceux qui ont recours à la violence". L'UE multiplie les contacts sur le dossier ukrainien et le commissaire européen à l'Elargissement, Stefan Füle, a rencontré vendredi le président et les représentants de l'opposition. La chef de la diplomatie européenne, Catherine Ashton, est attendue à Kiev jeudi et vendredi. (Belga)

Regierungsgegner haben in der ukrainischen Hauptstadt Kiew das Justizministerium besetzt. Sie stürmten am späten Sonntagabend in das Gebäude, das nur wenige hundert Meter vom Hauptlager der Protestierenden entfernt liegt, und errichteten Barrikaden............
ReplyDeleteEin maskierter Demonstrant sagte, es seien nur drei Sicherheitsleute im Gebäude gewesen und hätten keinen Widerstand geleistet. Alle vier Etagen seien von Demonstranten besetzt, sagte er. Die Mitarbeiter des Ministeriums könnten am Montag kommen und Dokumente holen - aber nicht ihrer Arbeit nachgehen.
