The Russian Defense Ministry said that a Russian helicopter carrying five soldiers was shot down in Idleb countryside on Monday.
In a statement, the Ministry said that the Russian helicopter had been shot down after delivering humanitarian aid to Aleppo city as it was making its way back to Hmeimim airbase in Lattakia.
Later, the Kremlin confirmed the death of the Russian soldiers who were on board the helicopter.
In its statement, the Defense Ministry had said that the fate of the five soldiers was unknown.
