Russian Plane Lands in Sanaa for Evacuation Purposes in Yemen - Airport

A Russian passenger plane sent to the Yemeni capital of Sanaa has boarded 167 individuals for evacuation from the crisis-hit country, a source in the Sanaa airport told Sputnik on Thursday.

“The plane has landed at the Sanaa International Airport and boarding is underway, there are 167 [passengers],” the airport source said.

A second Russian passenger plane is expected to land soon to evacuate approximately the same number of people.

    Russia is taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of its citizens in Yemen, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists on Friday.

    "We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of our citizens in Yemen," Lavrov said. "All Russian diplomats have already been evacuated from Aden," he added.

    The plane landed at the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow Region a few hours after the landing of the first aircraft from Yemen.
