Russian emergencies ministry sends rescuers to quake-hit Nepal

A Russian emergencies ministry’s plane has taken off for Nepal with rescuers who will join rescue operations after the Saturday’s devastating earthquake, a ministry’s spokesman told TASS on Sunday.

"An Ilyushin Il-76 airplane took off from the Ramenskoye airfield outside Moscow at 20:00 Moscow Time. 

It will take a team of rescuers and rescue equipment," the spokesman said, adding that another plane was to take off soon.

  • 2. Russia sends 90 rescuers to quake-hit Nepal...

Russia’s emergencies ministry has sent two planes with rescuers to Nepal to help eliminate aftermath of the Saturday’s devastating earthquake, a ministry’s spokesman told TASS on Sunday.

"Two Ilyushin Il-76 airplanes took off from the Ramenskoye airfield outside Moscow. They will take a team of 90 rescuers and rescue equipment," the spokesman said, adding that onboard the planes was a batch of humanitarian aid of food products and articles of daily necessity.
A devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal on Saturday. As many as 48 aftershocks with a magnitude ranging from 3.5 to 6.9 have been registered following the eqrathquake. 

The latest magnitude 4.1 aftershock was registered at 18:41 local time /16:11 Moscow time/. Its epicenter was located 20 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu at a depth of ten kilometres. According to the latest reports, the death toll from the earthquake has exceeded 2,500. More than 6,200 people were injured......http://tass.ru/en/russia/791878

  1. China search and rescue team arrives in Nepal...

    The 62-strong China International Search and Rescue Team arrived in Nepal on Sunday to carry out humanitarian mission following a 7.9 magnitude quake struck the country.

    Shankar Koirala, Nepal's joint secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, warmly welcomed the Chinese team at the Kathmandu airport, terming their arrival as a timely assistance.

    The joint secretary said his country will do its best to facilitate the Chinese team so that they will rescue as many Nepali people as they can.
