Moscow interested in Brussels’ explanation on EU army (Alexey Meshkov)

Moscow is interested in Brussels’ explanation on the EU army, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov said on Tuesday, answering a question by TASS about European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker’s statements.

"It would be great to understand what they [EU officials] are talking about because European politicians have touched upon the subject at different levels over the last 30 years," Meshkov said. "It is hard for us to guess what Jean-Claude Juncker meant this time," he added.

On March 8, Juncker called for the creation of an EU army, saying that "Europe's image has suffered dramatically and also in terms of foreign policy, we don't seem to be taken entirely seriously."
