Austrian Foreign Minister, Sebastian Kurz declared today in Skopje that this country has a European perspective, but a solution of the name dispute, which has been lasting a long time, must be found for this....
“For me, the name dispute has been lasting a long time and its failure damages Europe and the two countries involved. It’s not clear to me as to why there’s no progress in relation to the dispute in this period. The two countries have many important issues to resolve, relating to the economic domain and reforms that bring welfare. Austria is ready to put pressure in order to create a dynamic in this process”, said Kurz, following the meeting with the FYROM counterpart, Nikola Popovski.
He added that he’s optimistic that Greek elections will be followed by an intensive dynamic, while Vienna will help by putting pressure.
The head of the Austrian diplomacy said that the authorities of his country must continue with the reforms, while saying that the FYROM opposition must return to parliament.
“I call upon the decision to come back to parliament, because this is the place for political dialogue and discussions”, said Kurz.
As far as the freedom of media is concerned, the head of the Austrian diplomacy said that it’s important to achieve that level of democracy that the EU demands from its members and aspiring countries.
Kurz said that Austria is the second biggest investor in FYROM with 437 million Euros worth of investments and 50 enterprises.
The FYROM head of diplomacy, Nikola Popovski said that Austria has supported FYROM’s integration process and that in spite of economic and security problems that Europe has, this country will continue to show its support.
Austrian Foreign Minister will also meet today in Skopje with the president George Ivanov and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski. /ibna/
