BRUSSELS, September 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will be ratified on Tuesday without any amendments to the text, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said on Tuesday after trilateral talks with Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev and European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht.

“The agreement will be ratified on Tuesday,” Klimkin said, adding that its text would be unchanged.
He said that thanks to today’s agreements, “the Russian side will have no grounds to impose trade restrictions” against Ukrainian goods.

  • Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev told journalists the association agreement would come into force from 2016.
  • He said that the parties to today’s ministerial consultations had admitted that the problems over the implementation of Ukraine’s association agreement with the European Union Russia had spoken about were real ones.
“The sides agreed that it would take time to clarify these issues, that is why the implementation of the association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union after its ratification would be postponed till the end of 2015, till December 31, 2015,” Ulyukayev said, adding that the sides would have 15 months to reach a compromise on that issue.

  1. EU delays entry into force of free trade pact with Ukraine...

BRUSSELS - The European Union, Russia and Ukraine agreed on Friday to delay the implementation of an EU-Ukraine free trade pact until the end of next year, EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said.

Ukraine will continue to enjoy privileged access to the EU market until that date, he said, but it will not have to cut duties on imports from the EU in return.

The move appears to be at least partly a concession to Russia, which fears the EU-Ukraine agreement will harm its industry..................http://www.todayonline.com/world/eu-delays-entry-force-free-trade-pact-ukraine

  2. Ukraine's lawmakers are set to ratify a landmark EU association agreement - in proceedings simultaneous with a session of the European Parliament...

Both sides will start the procedure at 10:00 GMT, in what Ukraine's president said would be a "historic" day.

But the implementation of a free trade deal - part of the package - has been postponed until 2016, apparently under pressure from Russia.

This comes as a fragile ceasefire largely holds in eastern Ukraine.

There were reports of shelling around the government-held airport of Donetsk and other towns.

Pro-Russian rebels have been engaged in heavy fighting with government forces in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions since April - a month after Russia annexed southern Crimea peninsula.

Some 3,000 people have been killed over the past five months of conflict.....................http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29211344
