BRUSSELS, September 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will be ratified on Tuesday without any amendments to the text, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said on Tuesday after trilateral talks with Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev and European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht.
“The agreement will be ratified on Tuesday,” Klimkin said, adding that its text would be unchanged.
He said that thanks to today’s agreements, “the Russian side will have no grounds to impose trade restrictions” against Ukrainian goods.

ReplyDeleteBRUSSELS - The European Union, Russia and Ukraine agreed on Friday to delay the implementation of an EU-Ukraine free trade pact until the end of next year, EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said.
Ukraine will continue to enjoy privileged access to the EU market until that date, he said, but it will not have to cut duties on imports from the EU in return.

But the implementation of a free trade deal - part of the package - has been postponed until 2016, apparently under pressure from Russia.
This comes as a fragile ceasefire largely holds in eastern Ukraine.
There were reports of shelling around the government-held airport of Donetsk and other towns.
Pro-Russian rebels have been engaged in heavy fighting with government forces in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions since April - a month after Russia annexed southern Crimea peninsula.
