Hellenic MFA, Thursday, 28 August 2014:
“Due to the deterioration of security conditions in the wider area of
Mariupol, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos
Venizelos approved the recommendation of Greece’s Consul General in
Mariupol, Dimitrios Papandreou, that the Consulate General offices be
moved immediately and temporarily relocated to the city of
Dnipropetrovsk, which is within the Consulate General’s consular
jurisdiction.
Mr. Venizelos instructed that all representatives of the Greek communities be informed immediately regarding the relocation of the Consulate General, which will continue to provide services as usual to Greeks in Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry is in ongoing contact with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to ensure the safety of persons of Greek origin living in Ukraine.”
