Relations between Greece and Turkey have been going through its most successful period, according to Istanbul-born Greek politician Eva Kaili.
The 35-year-old served as a member of the Greek Parliament from 2007-2012 from PASOK and was elected to the European Parliament last month.
Upon being asked about Turkish-Greek relations, Kaili said, “Now we are in the ‘[Prime Minister Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan era.’” She continued, “We have been going through the most successful period regarding mutual ties.
For the first time since 1922, the two communities have become much closer. I want to believe that this generation will solve the problems [between the two countries],” Kaili told daily Hürriyet in an interview in Brussels.
