Right Sector leader killed in Ukraine

One of leaders of Ukraine’s far-right movement Right Sector Oleksandr Muzychko was killed in the western Ukrainian city of Rivne, local media reported on Tuesday.

Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Muzychko nicknamed Sashko Bily was on international wanted list for participation in combat actions against Russian servicemen.

A criminal case was opened against him, as Russian detectives had evidence that he killed more than 20 servicemen.

“The main investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee in the North Caucasian Federal District opened a criminal case against Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Muzychko for creation of an armed group to attack Russian citizens and rule the gang,” spokesperson of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said. 1. Ukraine’s acting defense minister to be forced to retire shortly, lawmaker claims...

Ukraine’s Acting Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh will be dismissed soon, an MP representing Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party of parliament-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Tuesday on the conditions of anonymity.

“Tenyukh’s plight has been decided,” he said. The main candidate for replacing him is Bohdan Butsa, a native of the country’s western Lviv Oblast who was appointed first deputy defense minister March 24.

Lviv Oblast is widely known to be the mainstay of Ukraine’s far-right radical nationalism.

The MP said that Tenyukh had been misinforming the country’s leadership by saying he was in contact with all the commanders in Crimea and all of them were ostensibly ready to wage a mortal fight (with the Crimean self-defense forces).

In reality, however, it turned out that none of the top commanding officers at the General Staff of the Armed Forces has tried to establish communications with commanders of military bases in Crimea so as to put forward combat tasks for them.

Tenyukh’s activity was qualified at the “highest state level” as high treason.............http://en.itar-tass.com/world/725156

    1. Ukraine’s parliament-appointed Acting Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh resigns...

Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada members did not support the parliament’s resolution on the dismissal of Ihor Tenyukh as Acting Defense Minister. The corresponding resolution was supported by affirmative votes of 197 MPs, while 226 pro votes are needed to pass the decision.

“If the authorities have another vision on the developments, and if the authorities have another candidates for that post, I resign,” Tenyukh stated at the Verkhovna Rada’s session.

Parliament-appointed interim President and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov said that he would hold consultations on this issue and would “take a decision on further actions”.

On Tuesday, Turchynov proposed the parliament to dismiss Tenyukh and appoint Mikhailo Koval as Ukraine’s acting defense minister.

  5. Kiev describes Right Sector leader's statement as threat to stability...

Right Sector leader Dmitry Yarosh's statement, which contains a threat to avenge Right Sector activist Alexander Muzychko, killed in a shoot-out with law enforcers on Tuesday, "is lawless and threatens stability in all regions of Ukraine", Viktoria Syumar, deputy secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council (SNBO), said at a meeting with journalists on Tuesday.

"Any threats addressed to the the Head of the Interior Ministry, any threats to use force are lawless and jeopardize stability in all regions of Ukraine, including that in Kiev, irrespective of the whereabouts of the Right Sector," she said, adding that "a special investigation will be carried out" into the fact of Muzychko's death.

Earlier Tuesday, Yarosh demanded resignation of the Interior Minister and arrest of those members of the special unit Sokol (falcon), who were involved in the detention of Muzychko who is known as "Sashko Bilyi".

The details of the operation aimed at apprehending Muzychko on the outskirts of the city of Rovno were given on Tuesday at a press conference by Vladimir Yevdokimov, Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of the Interior. He said members of the organized-crime group (OCG) had committed crimes in the territory of Rovno Region and in several other regions. On March 8, investigators initiated criminal proceedings against Muzychko under the provisions of Ukraine's Criminal Code article envisaging responsibility for rowdy behaviour, as well as for threats or violence against law enforcers. On March 12, Muzychk was put on a wanted list................http://en.itar-tass.com/world/725278?utm_medium=rss20
