Le premier ministre ukrainien Nikolaï Azarov a déclaré vendredi que les autorités du pays étaient prêtes à former un groupe tripartite indépendant chargé d'enquêter sur la violence disproportionnée avec laquelle la police avait dispersé une manifestation sur la place de l'Indépendance à Kiev. Ce groupe devrait comprendre les représentants du gouvernement et de l'opposition, ainsi que des médiateurs européens.
M. Azarov a posé le déblocage de tous les bâtiments administratifs assiégés par les manifestants en qualité de condition préalable au dialogue.
Le dirigeant du parti d'opposition Batkivchtchina au parlement ukrainien, Arseni Iatseniouk, a pour sa part déclaré samedi que les contestataires avançaient à titre de préalable la démission du gouvernement, la libération de tous les manifestants interpellés par la police et la punition de toutes les personnes coupables des violences à l'égard des protestataires.

‘It’s about democracy’: EU delegation urges Ukraine protesters to seek referendum....
ReplyDeleteUkraine should hold a referendum to decide its political course, Alexandra Thein, the German MEP from the EU-delegation to Ukraine told RT. The politician believes it is normal to support protests in the streets, if it doesn't incite violence.
A delegation of Members of the European Parliament descended on Ukraine on Saturday, to meet with the opposition leaders and address the crowd in the streets of Kiev, fueling the protest further.
Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a European Parliament member from Poland expressed full support for the protesters’ demand for an early election, calling the situation “unacceptable” when “the choice of the majority of Ukrainians, millions of people, is being put aside.”
However, speaking with RT, German MEP Alexandra Thein, said that the “unofficial” visit of the European politicians was all about democracy and the Ukrainian people’s desire to associate with Europe, and not the ousting of a democratically elected government which just recently survived a no confidence vote.
RT: We've seen scores of EU politicians come mingle with the protesters in Kiev. Why aren't they letting Ukraine's elected leaders democratically decide?
Alexandra Thein: I think it is not against Ukraine’s leadership. I think they just show their solidarity with the protesters and I think we want the Association Agreement with the EU signed and therefore we assist them.

Ukraine's capital Kiev gripped by huge pro-EU demonstration...
ReplyDeleteHundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in the Ukrainian capital Kiev seeking the resignation of the government for refusing a deal on closer ties with the European Union.
Protesters, who oppose closer connections with Russia, toppled a statue of Vladimir Lenin.
President Viktor Yanukovych has said he shelved the EU deal after Russian opposition.
President Vladimir Putin has urged Kiev to join a Russian-led customs union.
The protest leaders have given President Yanukovych 48 hours to dismiss the government and are setting up barricades outside the PM's offices.
Witnesses said a group of protesters toppled the statue of Soviet leader Lenin using metal bars and ropes and then began smashing it up with hammers.
Others stood by chanting "glory to Ukraine".

ReplyDeleteDes manifestants ukrainiens ont renversé dimanche une statue du leader de la Révolution russe de 1917 Vladimir Lénine dans le centre de Kiev, après une journée de manifestation massive de l'opposition pro-européenne contre le pouvoir ukrainien, a indiqué la police à l'AFP.
La statue a été renversée par des manifestants "masqués", qui brandissaient des drapeaux du parti ultra-nationaliste Svoboda (Liberté), a précisé un porte-parole de la police de la capitale de l'ex-république soviétique indépendante depuis 1991.
Des centaines de milliers de manifestants étaient massés dimanche en milieu de journée sur la place de l'Indépendance à Kiev pour accentuer la pression sur le gouvernement ukrainien.
Soutenue par les Etats-Unis et les Européens, l'opposition avait en effet appelé à une manifestation dimanche à 11H00 sur cette place, haut lieu de la Révolution orange occupée depuis une semaine par les protestataires qui y ont hérissé des barricades.
"Nous devons être plus d'un million et nous allons forcer le président (Viktor) Ianoukovitch à remplir nos conditions", avait lancé samedi soir le boxeur Vitali Klitschko, l'un des leaders de l'opposition. "Notre avenir dépend de chacun de vous", a-t-il ajouté.
Le refus du pouvoir de signer fin novembre l'accord d'association avec l'UE négocié depuis trois ans et les violences contre les manifestants il y a une semaine ont plongé ce pays de 46 millions d'habitants dans une crise politique sans précédent depuis la Révolution orange de 2004 qui a porté au pouvoir des pro-occidentaux.
La manifestation précédente dispersée dans la violence
Entre 200 000 et 500 000 personnes, selon les sources, s'étaient rassemblées le 1er décembre sur cette place après une dispersion violente la veille d'une manifestation au même endroit qui a fait des dizaines de blessés dont de nombreux étudiants.
L'opposition réclame l'organisation d'élections anticipées ainsi que la punition des responsables des violences policières et la libération de personnes mises en détention provisoire pour des "troubles" et qu'elle juge innocentes.

ReplyDeleteUkrainians gathered in the capital Kyiv for a massive protest aimed at denouncing the government of President Viktor Yanukovych and pressuring him into dropping plans for closer ties with Russia.
Hundreds of thousands waved EU and Ukrainian flags as they gathered on Kyiv's Independence Square to protest the government's decision to back away from a trade deal with the European Union in favor of one with Moscow.
In a letter read by her daughter, jailed opposition leader and former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Mr. Yanukovych has lost legitimacy as a president, and called for his ouster.
"He (President Viktor Yanukovych) understands only one language. This is the language of peaceful and powerful strength. And we should use it to speak with him. We have to move out him from authority right now."
Earlier, opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk said he would negotiate with President Yanukovych only if he names a new government that will deepen European ties.

Aus Protest gegen eine stärkere Annäherung der Ukraine an Russland haben wütende Demonstranten in der Hauptstadt Kiew am Sonntag eine Statue des Sowjetunion-Gründers Wladimir Iljitsch Lenin umgerissen. Nachdem die Oppositionsanhänger die Statue umgestürzt hatten, zertrümmerten sie das Denkmal mit Hämmern.
Die maskierten Täter hätten ein Stahlseil am bekanntesten Lenin-Denkmal der Millionenmetropole befestigt und die Figur umgekippt, sagte ein Sprecher der ukrainischen Polizei. Die Statue sei schwer beschädigt.
Augenzeugen berichteten im Fernsehen, dass der Kopf abgebrochen sei. "Jemand schlägt hier mit dem Hammer auf die Figur", sagte ein Mann. Es seien auch Schreie "Weg mit dem Henker des ukrainischen Volkes" zu hören. Bereits 2009 war die Statue von Unbekannten demoliert worden.
Auf einer Großkundgebung in der Nähe hatten zuvor erneut Hunderttausende Demonstranten gegen Präsident Viktor Janukowitsch und dessen Plänen für eine engere wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit mit Russland protestiert. «Άρχισε η έφοδος στα οδοφράγματα στη Γκρούσεφσκαγια, τη Λουθηρανική, τη Μπάγκοβα και τη Σελκοβίτσνα. Πάμε εκεί». - είπε ο ηγέτης του κόμματος της «Ελευθερίας» Ολέγκ Τιάγκνιμποκ.

ReplyDeleteLe président ukrainien Viktor Ianoukovitch a accepté lundi l’idée de pourparlers avec l’opposition afin de trouver une sortie à la crise politique que traverse le pays depuis son refus d’un rapprochement avec l’UE. Il rencontrera mardi les trois anciens présidents du pays.
Léonid Kravtchouk, le premier président de l’Ukraine indépendante, Léonid Koutchma, dont M. Ianoukovitch a été le Premier ministre, et Viktor Iouchtchenko, sorti vainqueur de la Révolution orange de 2004, avaient apporté la semaine dernière leur soutien au mouvement.
Cette rencontre doit poser les bases de pourparlers réunissant pouvoir et opposition dans le but de « trouver un compromis ». Elle coïncidera avec l’arrivée à Kiev de la chef de la diplomatie européenne, Catherine Ashton, pour une mission de conciliation avec en vue « la recherche d’une solution politique ».

Kiev riot police retreat after storming protest bastions...
ReplyDeleteHundreds of anti-government protesters inside city hall in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, have pushed back riot police trying to dislodge them.
Clashes erupted hours after riot police moved in to clear protesters from nearby Independence Square - prompting the US to express "disgust".
The interior minister has now given assurances no force will be used.
The protests were sparked by the government's refusal to sign a deal on closer ties with the European Union.
The U-turn followed pressure from Russia, which has said Ukraine's free trade deal with the EU will flood the Russian market.
Human walls
Police have now withdrawn from city hall following their abortive attempt to oust occupying protesters, said the BBC's David Stern at the scene.
Protesters used hoses to fire icy water at the police, said reports, and events were carried live on local television.
Protesters also announced that the police had pulled back from the main camp in Independence Square, which they moved on in the early hours of Wednesday.
"I want everyone to calm down," said Interior Minister Vitali Zakharchenko in a statement.
"There will be no storming of the square. No one will violate your rights to protest peacefully, but do not ignore the rights... of other citizens."

In Kiew spitzte sich die Konfrontation zwischen Polizei und Demonstranten Mittwoch früh dramatisch zu. Die Sicherheitskräfte stürmten das Rathaus von Kiew, das die Regierungsgegner besetzt hielten. Es kam zu Zusammenstößen, die Polizei setzte Schlagstöcke ein, die Demonstranten schlugen mit Knüppeln und Feuerlöschern zurück.
