OPCW confirms destruction of all unfilled munitions in Syria

Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has confirmed the earlier declaration by Syrian authorities that all unfilled munitions in the country have been destroyed.
On Thursday, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that the UN Security Council has no qualms against Syrian authorities who have fulfilled their obligations of destroying toxic substances in the country.

OPCW has the task of destroying more than 1300 tonnes of sarin, mustard gas and other toxic substances before 30th June 2014. Syrian officials have been cooperative and are determined to complete the task of destroying the chemcials, despite the civil war in the country, the OPCW statement said.

• Η OPCW επιβεβαίωσε την καταστροφή όλων των κενών πυρομαχικών από τη Συρία 

Ο Οργανισμός για την Απαγόρευση των Χημικών Όπλων (ΟΑΧΟ) επιβεβαίωσε την καταστροφή από τη Συρία όλων των κενών πυρομαχικών, για το οποίο γεγονός είχαν δηλώσει προηγουμένως οι συριακές Αρχές, αναφέρεται σε μήνυμα του οργανισμού.
Νωρίτερα το Εκτελεστικό Συμβούλιο του ΟΑΧΟ ενέκρινε ένα λεπτομερές σχέδιο καταστροφής των συριακών χημικών οπλοστασίων, σύμφωνα με το οποίο όλα τα υλικά για την κατασκευή χημικών όπλων, με εξαίρεση ην ισοπροπανόλη, θα μεταφερθούν εκτός της Συρίας έως τις 5 Φεβρουαρίου, ενώ τα πιο επικίνδυνα, μέχρι το τέλος του τρέχοντος έτους.
Οι εγκαταστάσεις που σχετίζονται με τα συριακά χημικά οπλοστάσια, θα καταστρέφονται σταδιακά κατά τη περίοδο από τις 15 Δεκεμβρίου του 2013 έως τις 15 Μαρτίου του 2014.
