Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding the bombing near the Iranian Embassy in Beirut:

“The Greek government categorically and unequivocally condemns the deadly bombing near the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, the large number of victims of which included employees of the Embassy and many injured.

We express our profound grief at this tragic incident, as well as our condolences to the families of the victims.

Terrorism and the use of violence, whatever the source, undermine the peace, stability and security of Lebanon.

We hope that the relevant investigations lead to the perpetrators of this act and to justice’s being done.”
