Η συνάντηση επικεντρώθηκε στις διμερείς οικονομικές σχέσεις και ιδιαίτερα στην υλοποίηση ρωσικών επενδυτικών προγραμμάτων στη Σερβία που αφορούν τον ενεργειακό τομέα, την αύξηση των εμπορικών συναλλαγών και την παροχή οικονομικής βοήθειας για την κάλυψη του ελλείμματος στο σερβικό προϋπολογισμό.
Σύμφωνα με το σερβικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων Τανγιούγκ, ο Ρώσος πρόεδρος υποσχέθηκε ότι θα εγκρίνει άμεσα δάνειο για την ενίσχυση του κρατικού προϋπολογισμού της Σερβίας, διασφαλίζοντας έτσι την ομαλή παροχή μισθών και συντάξεων.
Ο αγωγός φυσικού αερίου South Stream κυριάρχησε, επίσης, στις συνομιλίες του Τόμισλαβ Νίκολιτς με τον Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν. Συμφωνήθηκε να αρχίσει η κατασκευή του έργου, στο τμήμα που διασχίζει τη Σερβία, έως το τέλος του τρέχοντος έτους, ενώ ο Σέρβος πρόεδρος κάλεσε το Ρώσο ομόλογό του να παραστεί στα εγκαίνια έναρξης τω εργασιών.
Για το Κόσοβο, οι δύο άνδρες συμφώνησαν ότι ο ΟΗΕ θα πρέπει να έχει πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο στην επίλυση του ζητήματος στο πλαίσιο της απόφασης 1244 του Σ.Α από το 1999. Ο Τόμισλαβ Νίκολιτς επανέλαβε ότι η Σερβία δεν πρόκειται να καταφύγει στη βία για την υπεράσπιση των κυριαρχικών της δικαιωμάτων, παρά θα περιοριστεί στη χρήση διπλωματικών μέσων.
Ο πρόεδρος της Σερβίας επισήμανε ακόμη ότι η λύση θα πρέπει να αναζητηθεί στο πλαίσιο του ΟΗΕ, ενώ παράλληλα να συνεχιστεί ο διάλογος με την Πρίστινα που διεξάγεται υπό την αιγίδα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Ο Βλαντίμιρ Πούτιν, από την πλευρά του, υποσχέθηκε ότι η Ρωσία θα παράσχει κάθε υποστήριξη στη Σερβία εντός του ΟΗΕ και των διεθνών οργανισμών που συμμετέχει. Στην συνάντηση Πούτιν - Νίκολιτς διαπιστώθηκε η σημαντική ενίσχυση των διμερών σχέσεων τα τελευταία χρόνια και συμφωνήθηκε, όπως επισήμαναν και οι δύο πρόεδροι στην κοινή συνέντευξη Τύπου, «οι σχέσεις των δύο χωρών να αναπτυχθούν ακόμη περισσότερο μέχρι το επίπεδο των σχέσεων στρατηγικού εταίρου».

EU should not harm Serbian-Russian partnership, Lavrov says....

Serbia-EU accession negotiations does not harm strategic partnership between Serbia and Russia and “South Stream” project is in accordance with international law, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in the interview for “Politika” daily.
Serbia is among seven European countries participating in “South Stream” project focused on constructing a pipeline to transport Russian natural gas through the Black Sea to Bulgaria and further to Greece, Italy and Austria.
Earlier this week European Commission announced it would not depart from the position that agreements on “South Stream” between six EU member states and Russia should be reviewed as they are not in line with EU regulations, while the European Energy Community will deal with Serbia, which has a similar agreement with Russia, Tanjug news agency learned.

Lavrov: Strategic partnership could be improved even further...
DeleteBELGRADE - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that relations between Serbia and Russia reached the level of a strategic partnership, but that it still does not fully reflect the needs and possibilities of the two countries.
There is significant potential in trade and economic relations between Russia and Serbia, Lavrov said in an interview that the Belgrade-based broadsheet published on Sunday, adding that the Russian investor's purchase of shares in the Petroleum Industry of Serbia is an example of good cooperation.
I expect that Russian investors will continue to be offered favorable conditions. I am sure that the inflow of Russian capital and large credit arrangements help boost Serbia's economic growth, he said.
Therefore, Serbia-Russia relations cannot be a hostage to outside factors, Lavrov said, adding that it is important for Moscow that Serbia's EU integration, the start of EU entry talks, does not harm the partnership, the realization of major economic and infrastructure projects, including the energy sector.
The South Stream project constitutes Russia's investment in ensuring a complex energy security on the continent, Lavrov said, adding that, in that context, Brussels's statements about the need for reviewing interstate agreements between Russia and the countries taking part in the project, Serbia included, in order to harmonize it with the EU's Third Energy Package give a cause for concern and pose a difficulty.
The EU legislation cannot be implemented retroactively and it cannot affect the bilateral agreements that had been reached previously. The agreements are part of international law, and cannot be unilaterally subjected to revision. We believe that Serbian partners take the same stand, Lavrov said.
When it comes to Kosovo-Metohija, Lavrov stressed that Moscow is ready to continue cooperating with Belgrade on resolving the Kosovo issue, starting from the point that the Serbian side should decide on its own what its priorities are.
In principle, we have backed the establishment of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue so as to create prerequisites for improving living conditions for the population in the province. We attach a special importance to the necessity of improving the position of the Serb community. Some progress has been made in the negotiations. We will agree to every solution that suits Serbia, the Russian foreign minister said.
