North Korea test fires 4 long-range cruise missiles to show nuclear prowess

North Korea on Friday said that it test-fired four long-range strategic cruise missiles during a drill designed to showcase a nuclear counterattack against hostile forces, reported Reuters.

According to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the exercise that was conducted on Thursday involved an operational strategic cruise missile unit of the Korean People's Army.

The unit fired the four "Hwasal-2" missiles in the area of Kim Chaek City, North Hamgyong Province, towards the sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula.

They traveled 2,000 kilometres (1,240 miles) before "precisely" hitting their target, the report said, without specifying what the targets were.
