Ukrainian S-300 missile in territory of Belarus, FM protested to the Ambassador of Ukraine

 

 1. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry protested to Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Kizima after the fall of the Ukrainian Armed Forces rocket into the country, said Anatoly Glaz, press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

"The Belarusian side takes this issue as seriously as possible. In this regard, today the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim was summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, to whom a strong protest was made," he told reporters.

2. The Ukrainian missile, launched with an S-300 system, was destroyed by the Belarussian air defense shortly after it strayed into the country’s airspace, the commander of one of Belarus' anti-aircraft missile battalions said on Thursday.

"As a result of prompt and well-coordinated measures the air defense locked on the target, identified it and eliminated it as soon as the missile entered our airspace," the officer said in a video, released by the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

The missile launched with an S-300 anti-aircraft from the territory of Ukraine, was shot down by the Belarusian air defense forces in the morning of December 29 at about 10:00. Its fragments fell near the village of Gorbakha, the Ivanovo district of the Brest region. President Alexander Lukashenko was immediately informed about the incident.

3. Belarus regards the incident with the Ukrainian S-300 missile, which was shot down on Thursday by Belarusian air defenses in the country’s air space, as very serious, Anatoly Glaz, a spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

"It’s a very serious incident, and the Belarusian side regards this issue with maximum seriousness," he said.

4. Belarus is demanding that Ukraine punish the people that are responsible for the incident when Belarusian air defenses on Thursday had to shoot down in the country’s air space a Ukrainian S-300 air defense missile, Anatoly Glaz, a spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

"We have demanded that the Ukrainian side conduct a thorough investigation of all the circumstances around the launch of the said missile and take exhaustive measures to prevent a future repetition of similar incidents, which could lead to catastrophic consequences," he said.

The demands were made to Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Igor Kizim who was summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on Thursday. A decisive protest was announced to the ambassador over the incident.
