Ukraine calls for 'joint study' into Poland incident, is ready to hand over evidence

An official calls for a "joint study" on the "incident". Oleksiy Danilov adds that Kyiv expects its allies to provide evidence for their suggestions that the deadly blast may have been caused by Ukraine's air defences.

The head of the National Security and Defence Council adds in his tweet that Ukraine is requesting "immediate access to the site of the explosion".

"Ukraine requests immediate access to the site of the explosion," the secretary of Ukraine's national security and defence council, Oleksiy Danilov, writes on Twitter.

He also says Kyiv is ready to hand over evidence of its allegations that Russia was responsible for the hit, following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's accusations against Moscow.

Andrzej Duda, the Polish president, said both his country and the US - who are carrying out the investigation into what happened yesterday - would need to approve Ukraine's involvement.

  1. The Ukrainian armed forces confirmed that they had tried to intercept a missile near the site of incident in Poland around the same time, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing a source.

According to it, "the Ukrainian military told US and allies that it attempted to intercept a Russian missile during the timeframe and near that location of the Poland missile strike". According to the channel, this information served as a basis for the US assessment of the incident.
