Russian UN mission says results of voting on Ukrainian draft means West’s fiasco

 More than a half of UN member nations did not support the General Assembly resolution on "reparations" to Ukraine, which can be seen as a fiasco for those who promote the so-called rule-based order, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said on Monday.

"More than a half of UN members did not support the West-backed draft resolution," he wrote on his Telegram channel. "Ant it is despite pressure, blackmail and arms twisting! And how many unflattering and hard-hitting things were said to them during the debates they tried so hard to avoid."

"In general, this is a fiasco for those who is seeking to impose the ‘rule-based order’ on the entire world," Polyansky noted. "But they are unlikely to be willing to admit it. But we know."

The emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday passed a resolution on establishing an international register of damage allegedly inflicted on Ukraine by Russia and recognizing the need for a loss reparation mechanism. Ninety-four countries voted for the document, while 14 were against and 73 abstained.
