The diplomat noted that "the West acts at the very least as an active accomplice in the wide-scale ‘landmine contamination’ of the Ukrainian territory."
"EU states that pretend to advocate compliance with international humanitarian law and pointing to Ottawa and Oslo conventions, have in fact been shipping landmines to Ukraine since 2014, thus undermining the international efforts in humanitarian demining, which they themselves fund, by the way," Lyubinsky underscored, calling it a "vicious circle."
The EU, he said, does not shy away from any methods or means.
"Kiev, in turn, pays no attention to any international agreements and treaties that it is party to," the envoy said.
Meanwhile, "democratic states" turn a blind eye to all that or, as usual, attribute Ukraine’s crimes to Russia, Lyubinsky noted.
"The West has crossed every conceivable red lines and literally steps into a minefield. All is fair in the informational war against Russia," the diplomat underscored.
At the same time, he emphasized that "the Ukrainian army has been deliberately using PFM-1 ‘Petal’ anti-personnel landmines, prohibited by the Ottawa Convention, for months." Thus, Kiev violates the Ottawa Convention Kiev itself signed, the diplomat noted.
In addition, Ukraine started using German-made DM1399 landmines on the Donetsk direction, and, in August, it became known that Ukrainian forces received French-made MI AC HPD F2 anti-tank landmines. At the same time "reports are coming that Ukrainian forces mine roads near the city of Soledar with German-made DM 31 landmines," the diplomat concluded.
