Russia receives evacuation requests from 2 mln Ukrainian residents - Russian HQ

Russian authorities have been inundated with evacuation requests from citizens across Ukraine, the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine stated on Monday.

"Between March 5 and 7, 2022 alone, the official structures of the Russian Federation and the Russian Federation's Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine has logged 2,000,417 such requests," the statement said.

"Given the persistent continuous requests from foreign embassies and numerous direct pleas from Ukrainian citizens for evacuation from virtually every populated c enter, the Russian Federation is ready to prepare and carry out the humanitarian operation," the document said.

The success of this operation depends entirely on Ukraine whose authorities are ultimately responsible for its preparation and civilian safety, the Russian headquarters said.

The situation in almost every Ukrainian city is "fast deteriorating and has acquired a nature of humanitarian disaster," this is the case primarily in big cities such as Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol, it said.

"Without Ukraine's participation, the Russian side has so far managed to withdraw 173,773 people, including 44,187 children, and 19,969 personal vehicles, from the special military operations zones from the Luhansk and Donetsk people's republic, Ukraine, to the Russian Federation," the statement said.
