Coronavirus fatalities, infections mount in Latin America - AA

Countries across Latin America have reported new COVID-19 infections and fatalities, according to official data announced late Tuesday.



Brazil

In the country, globally fourth worst hit by the virus, a total of 839 more people lost their lives and 24,589 people were infected over the past 24 hours.

The death toll rose to 580,413 and confirmed cases exceeded 20.77 million, according to the Health Ministry.

The country has reported over 19.73 million recoveries so far.

Mexico

According to the Health Ministry, Mexico's COVID-19 case tally surged by 11,146, while fatalities increased by 835.

The country of some 126 million people has recorded more than 3.35 million cases, 259,326 deaths, and over 2.7 million recoveries.

Argentina

A total of 6,731 new infections raised Argentina’s case tally to over 5.18 million, according to Health Ministry data.

The nationwide death toll rose to 111,812 as 205 patients died over the past day. More than 4.87 million recoveries were also reported.

Colombia

Colombia’s Health Ministry reported 62 more fatalities over the past day, raising the country’s virus death toll to 124,945.

The total number of cases surpassed 4.9 million, including 1,822 new infections, while the number of recoveries stood at over 4.73 million.

Bolivia

Bolivia's Health Ministry reported 23 deaths due to the virus and 412 cases in the past day.

The total number of coronavirus cases has reached 490,879, while the death toll was registered at 18,452.

A total of 435,704 people have recovered from the virus.

Paraguay

According to data from Paraguay's Health Ministry, 25 more virus patients died over the last day, pushing the death toll to 15,767.

The country reported 73 new cases, raising total infections to 458,528, while recoveries reached 437,349.

Guatemala

According to local media in Guatemala, the country reported 40 fatalities in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 11,926.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose by 4,478 to reach 470,277, while a total of 407,834 people have recovered from the virus.

Honduras

Honduras reported 30 fatalities over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 8,932, according to the local media reports.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose by 1,084 to reach 339,841, and a total of 107,283 people have recovered from the virus.
