Australia : There is 'hard evidence' of new COVID variant spreading differently

 There is “hard evidence” the Kappa COVID-19 variant is spreading through fleeting contact, according to Victoria COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar. 

He said the intensity of stranger-to-stranger transmission present with the variant has not been seen previously. “We have eight examples of people getting positive coronavirus infections at five locations from people they don't know. That is a new thing.” Mr Weimar said.

 “They’re not getting it from household contacts, they’re not getting it from partners, not getting it from their workplace.”
