According to reports the blast occurred in the main hall of the seminary after an unidentified man placed a bag full of explosives over there.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mansoor Aman told media that initial reports suggest an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the explosion.
Children and instructors are among the victims as the blast took place when the classes were underway at the seminary.

A powerful bomb blast ripped through an Islamic seminary on the outskirts of the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar Tuesday morning, killing at least eight students and wounding 136 others, police and a hospital spokesman said.

He said initial investigations suggest the bomb went off minutes after someone left a bag at the madrassa.
