The United Kingdom on Thursday set out its plans for converting existing European Union law into its own as the country paves the way for its departure from the bloc.
Brexit Secretary David Davis presented to lawmakers at the House of Commons in London a White Paper bill on how the government intends to transfer thousands of EU laws into the UK's legal jurisdiction.
"The bill will convert EU into United Kingdom law," Davis said, adding it would also "create the necessary powers to correct the law so that our legal system continues to function correctly outside the European Union."
He said it would provide clarity and reassurance to British workers, businesses and consumers, and enable a smooth and orderly Brexit.
