Fleet of 6 Tu-22M strike bombers target ISIS in Deir Ezzour

Fighting between the Syrian Army, backed by local fighters, against ISIS, is continuing in the eastern province of Deir Ezzour.

Pro-government forces recently had to withdraw and abandon their gains, as they were unable to set-up sufficient defenses, putting them in a bad position to deal with an ISIS counter-attack. Areas they withdrew from include the cemetery.

According to sources, a fleet of 6 Tupolev Tu-22M strike bombers targeted ISIS' positions and military assets in Deir Ezzour earlier today, assisting the Syrian Army in its fight against the hard-line Islamist group.

ISIS casualties remain unclear at this point, but more details should emerge in the next few hours.  [almasdarnews.com]
