The Kremlin has preferred to refrain from comments on whether the Turkish president clarified his own statement on the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad when he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone.
"A broad exhange of opinion took place," Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said when TASS asked him if the two presidents had discussed the issue.
The Kremlin press service said earlier the Russian and Turkish presidents had discussed the pressing issues of Russian-Turkish relations, including the bilateral contacts due to take place at various levels shortly.
