Malaysia to summon ambassador of Myanmar over Rohingya crackdown

Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon the Ambassador of Myanmar over the escalation of violence in the Myanmar State of Rokhine.


The ministry will convey "the Government of Malaysia's concern over the issue," said the ministry in a statement on Friday.

The Malaysian foreign minister will meet with his counterpart, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, also Myanmar's State Counselor, at the earliest possible date, said the statement.

Malaysia condemns the violence over the past months resulting in the loss of innocent lives and displacement of people, and calls on all parties involved in the recent violence to refrain from taking any actions that would aggravate the situation further, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
