The Netherlands has summoned Russia's ambassador to complain about Russian criticism of the Dutch public prosecutor's office over the probe into the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

The Russian ambassador was called Friday to the foreign ministry in The Hague over statements that the Dutch say question the office's "professionalism, integrity and independence."

Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders said "given the convincing nature of the evidence, Russia should respect the results that have been presented, rather than impugning the investigation and sowing doubt."

 The Russian Foreign Ministry will summon on October 3 Dutch Ambassador in Moscow Renée Jones-Bos to present additional reasoning behind Russia's refusal to accept the findings of a Dutch-led probe into the crash of the Malaysian Flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine in 2014, spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Friday.


"The head of the Dutch diplomatic mission will be given reasons justifying Russia's outrage over the fact that important information provided by the Russian side is being ignored," Zakharova said in a statement.
