Chinese President Xi Jinping thanked Spanish Acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy for attending the ongoing G20 Summit despite political turmoil back home.
Xi and Rajoy met before the start of the second day of the summit and also pledged to boost bilateral ties in all areas.
Spanish government sources said Xi also felicitated Rajoy for a positive evolution of the Mediterranean country's economy.
Rajoy invited Xi to visit Spain, while the latter requested him to extend an invitation to the Spanish King to visit China.
Rajoy also suggested boosting the teaching of Spanish in China and his government's willingness to collaborate on the same.
