Russia's president said on Saturday that the governments of Moscow and Seoul would not accept the "self-proclaimed nuclear status" of North Korea.
President Vladimir Putin made his remarks following talks with South Korean President Park Geun-hye at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, which ends on Saturday.
"I want to stress that our countries (Russia and South Korea) do not accept the self-proclaimed nuclear status of Pyongyang," the Russian leader said.
Putin pointed out that all provocations, which might aggravate the situation on the Korean peninsula, should be avoided by all means.
Meanwhile, Park Geun-hye said Seoul and Moscow aimed to strengthen their "strategic cooperation" to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue.
The South Korean president added that it was "very important" to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, which poses the greatest threat to security in this region.
