The Libyan security forces released on Friday 23 Egyptian workers, held hostage by militants from an Daesh-affiliated terrorist group, media reported.
According to Al-Watan newspaper, militants kidnapped the Egyptian nationals two weeks ago in order to demand a ransom for their release.
Their liberation became possible after Egyptian authorities' involvement and due to coordinated actions of the Libyan security forces.
At the moment all hostages arrived at a checkpoint on the Libyan-Egyptian border in order to travel home.
The Daesh, outlawed in many countries around the world including Russia, gained a presence in Libya in the turmoil following the 2011 overthrow of leader Muammar Gaddafi.
