Turkey explosion: Fatalities feared in central Ankara

A suspected car bomb has exploded in the Kizilay neighbourhood of the Turkish capital Ankara, with reports of at least five people killed.

State-run broadcaster TRT said the car had exploded close to a bus stop.

Witnesses say the explosion was in the Guven park which is close to many government ministries. Some vehicles were on fire.

Last month, a bomb attack on a military convoy in Ankara killed 28 people and wounded dozens more.

The Hurriyet newspaper said the latest blast happened at about 18:41 (16:41 GMT) and that many ambulances were at the scene.

It said that the area was being evacuated in case there was a second attack.

Dogan news agency said five people had been killed. Pictures from the scene showed bodies on the ground...

    At least 27 people were killed and 75 more wounded in a blast in the Turkish capital Ankara on Sunday evening, broadcaster CNN Turk said, citing the local governor.

    CNN Turk had earlier said 25 had been killed. Later it said that two more people had died en route to hospital. A senior security official told Reuters the blast was believed to have been caused by a suicide car bombing.....reuters.com

  2. Die türkische Hauptstadt Ankara ist erneut von einer Explosion erschüttert worden...

    Nach Angaben aus Sicherheitskreisen wurden mehrere Personen getötet und verletzt. Zuletzt waren bei einem Anschlag auf einen Militärkonvoi in Ankara Mitte Februar 28 Menschen getötet worden.

    Bei einer Explosion in der türkischen Hauptstadt Ankara sind nach Informationen aus Sicherheitskreisen mehrere Personen getötet und verletzt worden. Der Fernsehsender NTV berichtete, es habe viele Tote gegeben. Die Detonation habe sich in einem Park der Metropole ereignet. Die Ursache ist noch unklar.

    Nach Angaben des Fernsehens wurden zudem mehrere Fahrzeuge zerstört oder beschädigt. Mitte Februar waren bei einem Anschlag auf einen Militärkonvoi in Ankara 28 Menschen getötet worden.
