Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia does not discuss the issue of the self-determination of third countries, including Syria, either through diplomatic or other channels.
His remarks came in response to information published by al-Hayat newspaper saying that US Secretary of State John Kerry had told several Arab countries that Russia and the United States reached an understanding on the future of Syria’s political process, including President al-Assad’s destiny.
“Al-Hayat published information which does not correspond to reality” Peskov said in a statement on Thursday.
“Russia is advantageously different from other nations because it does not discuss the issue of the self-determination of third countries either through diplomatic or other channels,” he added.

ReplyDeleteThe US and Russia have reached an understanding that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will leave to another country as part of the future peace process aiming to put an end to the bloody civil war, US Secretary of State John Kerry told several Arab countries according to a report by the London-based Al-Hayat Thursday.
The understanding between the United States and Russia, which came about in behind-the-scenes diplomatic channels involving military operations against Islamic State, does not include a timetable for Assad’s departure.
There have been several contradictory reports on alleged agreements between the US and Russia regarding the fate of Assad in recent weeks.
The report comes as Assad on Wednesday reiterated his call for a national unity government, as the White House said his inclusion would make any such proposal a "non-starter".....i24news.tv
