"Le président et les membres du Conseil présidentiel (CP) sont arrivés sains et sauf à Tripoli", a annoncé le CP. M. Sarraj, qui était à Tunis mardi, est arrivé par la mer dans des circonstances qui n'ont pas été dévoilées.
Les autorités qui contrôlent la capitale ont cherché ces derniers jours à empêcher par tous les moyens sa venue à Tripoli, allant jusqu'à la fermeture de l'espace aérien à plusieurs reprises pendant plusieurs heures.
Elles avaient décrété vendredi "l'état d'urgence maximal" dans la capitale après l'annonce par le gouvernement d'union nationale de sa volonté de s'y installer prochainement.
Tripoli, capitale de tous les Libyens
Le gouvernement d'union nationale a été créé en vertu d'un accord signé en décembre 2015 au Maroc et parrainé par l'ONU. Il est censé mettre fin au conflit qui oppose deux "gouvernements" rivaux siégeant l'un à Tripoli et l'autre à Tobrouk dans l'est.
Les Tripolitains craignent des affrontements entre les autorités de Tripoli et celles qui soutiennent le gouvernement d'union.
"C'est aujourd'hui, depuis Tripoli, capitale de tous les Libyens, que nous allons travailler", a déclaré Ahmed Metig, vice-président du CP, sur sa page Facebook.

The officials were prevented from flying into Tripoli by a rival government based in the capital. A third government is based in the east of the vast oil-rich country. Libya has been dominated by an array of militias since the 2011 uprising that toppled Muammar Qaddafi.
Ali Abu Zakouk, the foreign minister of the rival government, says his presence is "unacceptable.

ReplyDeleteIn a televised address, the head of the Tripoli authorities Khalifa Ghweil said Sarraj's government was "illegal", asking him to leave the capital or to "hand himself in".
Sarraj, who was named prime minister-designate in December under a UN-brokered power-sharing deal, arrived at a naval base in Tripoli Wednesday following growing international calls for Libya's rival political camps to unite behind his administration.
"Those who entered illegally and secretly must surrender or turn back," Ghweil said. "We won't leave Tripoli as long as we are not sure of the fate of our homeland."
Libya has had two rival administrations since mid-2014 when a militia alliance overran the capital, setting up its own authority and forcing the internationally recognized parliament to flee to the country's remote east.
