Russian tour operator to suspend sales of trips to Turkey

Natalie Tours, one of Russia's largest tour operators to Turkey, will temporarily suspend sales of trips to the country.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the tour operator said its offices in Russia and former Soviet republics would stop sending tourists to Turkey due to "an unstable political situation."

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier on Tuesday Turkey's downing of a Russian fighter jet would have serious consequences for Moscow's relations with Ankara.

Nearly 4.5 million Russians visited Turkey last year, 12 percent of all tourists there, second only to Germany.
