Merkel added that the German government stands in contact with the French government and has sent her the sympathy and solidarity of the people in Germany.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said earlier that he was shocked by the attacks in Paris, according to a Tweet of the German Foreign Ministry, which also says Germany stands on the side of France.
Steinmeier, together with French President Francois Hollande, were attending a soccer match between France and Germany when explosions were heard near Stade de France, the French national stadium.

The Chinese embassy in Paris issued a security alert late Friday after multiple bombing and gun attacks killed at least 140 people earlier in the day here...

According to local media reports, French anti-terrorist forces have killed four suspected attackers in a siege of a concert hall, where dozens had been held hostages.

- Ces attentats "ne sont pas seulement une attaque contre Paris" mais "une attaque contre toute l'humanité et nos valeurs universelles", a déclaré le président américain Barack Obama.
M. Obama a cité -en français- la devise républicaine "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité", en affirmant que ces valeurs étaient partagées par le peuple américain.

"Los delitos terroristas no pueden ser justificados y la tragedia en París nos exige a todos nosotros que nos unamos en la lucha contra el extremismo y demos una respuesta firme y decisiva a ataques de los terroristas", dijo en un comunicado publicado en la página web del gabinete de ministros.
Medvédev señaló que Rusia "comparte el dolor del pueblo francés".
Una cadena de ataques se produjo la noche del viernes en seis puntos diferentes de París; los terroristas abrieron fuego en un restaurante, detonaron tres bombas cerca del Estadio de Francia, donde se celebraba un amistoso con Alemania, y tomaron rehenes en una sala de conciertos.
Según estimaciones oficiales, los atentados costaron la vida al menos a 120 personas; algunos medios hablan de una cifra aún mayor, más de 150 fallecidos.

Le président syrien Bachar El-Assad n'est pas non plus resté muet suite à la série d'attentats historiques à Paris. Cependant, le chef d'Etat syrien a tiré un parallèle inattendu entre l'enfer français de la veille et le quotidien syrien:
"La France a connu hier ce que nous vivons en Syrie depuis 5 ans", a lancé ce matin Bachar El-Assad cité par Europe 1.
Au total, six attaques ont été perpétrées le 13 novembre au stade de France, dans la salle de spectacle du Bataclan et dans des terrasses de cafés et de restaurants situés principalement dans les 10e et 11e arrondissements de Paris.
Ces attaques terroristes, les pires qu'ait connues la France, ont fait au moins 120 morts et 200 blessés.
