China on Tuesday urged Japan to stop making "groundless accusations" against it on the South China Sea issue, after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's voiced concerns over Chinese activities in the disputed waters in his meetings with Western leaders earlier this week.
"The Chinese side is dissatisfied with what the Japanese side has done," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in a regular press conference.
Since Japan is "not a party concerned" in the disputes in question, Hong said, it should "stop making groundless accusations on the South China Sea issue."
