Three killed, 21 injured in Jerusalem attacks

Simultaneous attacks in Jerusalem have left three people dead and more than 20 injured Tuesday, including Israelis and two Palestinian suspects, medics said.

A two-man knife and gun attack on an Israeli bus in East Jerusalem killed one Israeli and left 16 injured, said Yonatan Yagodovsky, spokesperson for Israeli paramedic service Magen David Adom. One attacker was also killed and the other injured.

In a separate attack in central Jerusalem, another Israeli was killed and four more wounded when an attacker rammed a car into a bus stop and then stabbed several people, according to Yagodovsky. Israeli police said the attacker was shot and captured.

The simultaneous attacks marked an escalation in a wave of alleged stabbing attacks over the past 10 days that have left several Israelis injured.

They have come at a time of high tension between Palestinians and Israelis, with daily clashes across the occupied Palestinian territories.

There have been 27 Palestinians shot dead by security forces in October, either after attacks on Israelis or security forces, or when live fire has been used on Palestinian protesters.
