«Ήταν η δουλειά ενός πρωθυπουργού. Η δική μου στα πλαίσια των αρμοδιοτήτων μου ως υπουργός ήταν μόνο να αναπτύξω τα καλύτερα δυνατά εργαλεία. Υπήρχαν επιχειρήματα υπέρ του σχεδίου, υπήρχαν βέβαια και επιχειρήματα για να μην πατηθεί τελικά το κουμπί. Εγώ, θα το πατούσα! Ναι, θα το έκανα και το έχω πει δημοσίως, αλλά ήμουν στην πλευρά της μειοψηφίας και σέβομαι την απόφαση της πλειοψηφίας», ανέφερε.
Ακόμη, ο κ. Βαρουφάκης είπε πως η συμφωνία είναι σχεδιασμένη να αποτύχει και θα αποτύχει, και επέμεινε πώς πρόκειται για μέρος του σχεδίου Σόιμπλε. «Ελπίζω τελικά να μη φτάσουμε σε Grexit, αλλά περιμένω πολύ θόρυβο κατά την προσπάθεια εφαρμογής της συμφωνίας και στη συνέχεια κατηγορίες για αποτυχία επίτευξης των στόχων και γιγάντωση της ύφεσης - που τελικά θα μεταφραστεί σε νέα πολιτικά προβλήματα. Τότε θα δούμε αν η Ευρώπη θέλει να συνεχίσει με την εφαρμογή του υπόλοιπου σχεδίου Σόιμπλε ή όχι».

R. Vamos a separar dos cosas. Había un esquema, denominado plan X, un plan de contingencia para responder a los actos de agresión por parte del BCE, el Eurogrupo y demás instituciones.
Y un diseño para un nuevo sistema de pagos a través de la oficina de impuestos. Este sistema se debería haber aplicado de todos modos; debería aplicarse mañana. Pero el plan X ya es historia.
P. Según Tsipras, no había alternativa al pacto. ¿Con el plan B está usted diciendo lo contrario?

ReplyDeleteR. El tercer rescate está diseñado para fracasar. Seamos sinceros: el ministro alemán, Wolfgang Schäuble, nunca estuvo interesado en pactar nada que pueda funcionar. Su plan es rediseñar la eurozona: parte de ese rediseño es echar a Grecia. Creo que está completamente equivocado, pero tiene mucho poder. Una de las falacias de estos días es presentar el pacto entre Atenas y los acreedores como una alternativa al plan de Schäuble. No es así: el acuerdo es parte del plan de Schäuble.
P. ¿Da por seguro el Grexit?
R. Ojalá no sea así. Pero habrá mucho ruido, retrasos, incumplimiento de objetivos, más recesión, problemas políticos. Cuando llegue el momento se verá si Europa quiere o no seguir adelante con el programa de Schäuble.
P. Berlín acaba de sugerir un plan para aplicar las reglas del euro aún con más dureza.
R. Schäuble quiere dejar de lado a la Comisión y crear una especie de autoridad fiscal con capacidad para echar abajo los presupuestos nacionales, incluso en países que no estén bajo programa. Es como poner a todos los socios bajo programa. El plan Schäuble es imponer la troika en todas partes. En Madrid y en Roma. ReplyDeleteAmerican economist James Galbraith was one of ex-Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis' advisors. He speaks with SPIEGEL about secret plans to return to the drachma and the role played by German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble.
SPIEGEL: Mr. Galbraith, you were part of a small group within the Greek Ministry of Finance which drafted a secret plan for a return to the drachma. When did you initiate those plans and what did you discuss?
Galbraith: My records suggest that our discussions began toward the end of March and concluded in the first week or so of May. We were tasked not with drafting a 'secret plan' but with identifying the issues, problems and challenges that would arise if Greece were forced out of the euro by its European partners. Much of what we had to work with was historical research into past financial crises, e.g. in California in the early 2000s or in Cyprus. So it was often a question of working from this research to find a path that might be suitable for Greek conditions.
SPIEGEL: Did you reach a point where the scenario could have become reality?
Galbraith: No.
