'Yes' vote on bailout may see Greek government resign

The Greek government may resign if voters accept the bailout terms of the country’s creditors in Sunday’s referendum, Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said on Thursday.

Greeks will vote on Sunday on the proposals for economic reform imposed by creditors as a condition of the country receiving further bailout funds.

Speaking on Australia’s ABC radio on Thursday, Varoufakis said the leftist Syriza government "may very well" resign and hand over to a caretaker government.

"But we will do this in the spirit of cooperation with whoever takes over from us," Varoufakis said.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has repeatedly said his government would resign if Greeks vote 'yes' on Sunday.
