Ahmad said that the United Nations would intensify its efforts to reach a solution in Yemen, calling on the different Yemeni factions to get committed to a ceasefire during the Holy month of Ramadan, due to the "catastrophic humanitarian situation" across the country.
Yemen has been under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition since Saudi Arabia launched military strikes against its southern neighbor on March 26 without a UN mandate.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 2,600 people have so far lost their lives during the conflict in Yemen till June 14. However the death toll released by local authorities puts it much higher at about 4,300.
According to a recent report by Freedom House Foundation, most of the victims of the Saudi-US aggression are civilians, including a large number of women and children.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

ReplyDeleteLes négociations de paix pour le Yémen se sont achevées, vendredi 19 juin, sans accord et aucune date n'a été fixée pour de nouvelles discussions, a annoncé aux journalistes à Genève Ryad Yassine, le ministre des Affaires étrangères du gouvernement en exil.
"Malheureusement, la délégation houthie ne nous a pas permis de parvenir à un réel progrès tel que nous l'attendions", a-t-il affirmé, se refusant toutefois de parler d'"échec" et indiquant que les efforts avec l'ONU allaient continuer.
Ryad Yassine a également dit que la délégation du gouvernement, reconnu par la communauté internationale, était "toujours optimiste pour parvenir à une solution pacifique sous le couvert de l'ONU".....france24.com
