Russia unwilling to resolve conflict, says Ukraine PM

Russia is not willing to resolve the conflict and fulfill its responsibilities as detailed in the agreement reached in Minsk, said the Ukrainian prime minister.

Kiev and pro-Russian rebels agreed on a truce on September 5, in the Belarusian capital of Minsk, in a bid to end a five-month conflict that has left over 2,500 people killed, according to United Nations estimates.

“I can say that the Russian party does not want to settle the conflict and implement the Minsk agreements," said Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk during his visit to a training base of the National Guard near Kiev.
At least 50 pro-Russian separatists and seven Ukraine soldiers were killed on Monday in ongoing clashes in the country’s eastern region of Donetsk, according to Ukraine's National Security spokesman Andrey Lysenko.

Unrest in eastern Ukraine has torn the region apart since April, when Kiev launched military operations in the provinces of Donetsk and Luhansk to restore government control after separatists declared independence in the region.
