«Η στάση μας έχει τώρα αλλάξει. Η διαδικασία που θα ακολουθήσει θα είναι εντελώς διαφορετική», δήλωσε στην Κωνσταντινούπολη ο Ερντογάν, κατά την επιστροφή του από τη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου συμμετείχε στη Γενική Συνέλευση του ΟΗΕ.
«Όπως γνωρίζετε, ένα σχέδιο εντολής θα κατατεθεί στο κοινοβούλιο και θα συζητηθεί στις 2 Οκτωβρίου. Μόλις ψηφιστεί, θα ληφθούν τα απαραίτητα μέτρα. Η εντολή θα δίνει την άδεια για την επέμβαση των ενόπλων δυνάμεων», πρόσθεσε.
Η τουρκική κυβέρνηση αρνείτο, μέχρι τώρα, να συμμετάσχει στον διεθνή συνασπισμό, υπό τις ΗΠΑ εναντίον του Ισλαμικού χαλιφάτου, ο οποίος ξεκίνησε αυτή την εβδομάδα να βομβαρδίζει θέσεις των τζιχαντιστών στη Συρία, καθώς η οργάνωση κρατούσε 46 Τούρκους ομήρους.
Μετά την απελευθέρωση των ομήρων, η Τουρκία πραγματοποίησε στροφή 180 μοιρών.
Την Τρίτη, ο Ερντογάν εξέφρασε την ικανοποίησή του για τα πρώτα αεροπορικά πλήγματα του συνασπισμού και διαβεβαίωσε ότι η χώρα του είναι έτοιμη να «παράσχει κάθε υποστήριξη, περιλαμβανομένης πολιτικής και στρατιωτικής».

Erdogan signals more active anti-ISIS role...
ReplyDeletePresident Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday signaled Turkey would take a more active role in the international coalition against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants following the release of Turkish hostages held by the jihadists.
Ankara has for months frustrated the West with its distinctly low-key role in the campaign against ISIS jihadists but has insisted its hands were tied by concerns over the fate of the hostages.
“Now the position has changed. What follows will be much different,” Erdogan told reporters after flying back to Istanbul from a trip to the United States where he met U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
He said that “necessary steps” would be taken by parliament on October 2, without specifying the exact nature of these measures.
Parliament is due to convene on that date to consider extending the scope of two existing mandates allowing the government to take military action in Syria and Iraq.

ReplyDeleteTurkey will play a "constructive" role in anti-ISlL coalition, said Turkish foreign minister on Friday in New York.
"Turkey has always played a constructive role in establishing peace and stability," Mevlut Cavusoglu told a press conference with his Finnish counterpart Erkki foTuomioja following a meeting of the 'Group of Friends of Mediation', a group of 48 member states founded in 2010 by Turkey and Finland to promote the use of mediation in the peaceful settlement of disputes.
He said ISIL was destabilizing the region, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive counterterrorism program.
