SOCHI, August 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday Russia and the Kiev authorities have agreed on details of a relief operation in southeast Ukraine.
It will be carried out under the aegis of the International Red Cross, he said.
“Today I can say with cautious optimism that all possible and impossible obstacles have been removed. I hope that this humanitarian action will take place soon under the aegis of the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the Russian foreign minister stressed.
“We hope that Western partners are not going to put a spoke in wheels and will think about people who urgently need electricity and water supplies resumed,” Lavrov said, adding Russia would supply the relief cargo.
“I do hope that our Western partners are not going to hamper the humanitarian action which we are planning now,” the Russian foreign minister went on to say.

- He criticized Western leaders (from the United States, Britain and Germany) for unwillingness to see the need of sending relief aid to Ukraine. He described their behavior as “outrageous manifestation of cynicism”.

Lavrov accuse l'Occident de « cynisme flagrant »...
ReplyDeleteLe ministre des Affaires étrangères de Russie Sergueï Lavrov a qualifié de « manifestation de cynisme flagrante » le refus des dirigeants occidentaux de reconnaître la nécessité d'une aide humanitaire urgente à l'est de l'Ukraine.
Il a noté qu'il y avait l'impression que l'objectif de l'opération de Kiev était de laisser la terre brûlée dans l'est de l'Ukraine et d'obliger la population russe d'en partir.
Le ministre a annoncé que Moscou avait concerté l'octroi de l'aide humnitaire au sud-est de l'Ukraine avec Kiev et le Comité international de la Croix Rouge et a exprimé l'espoir que l'Occident n'y créerait pas des obstacles.

Ukraine and Russia 'agree' to aid mission to Luhansk...
ReplyDeleteUkraine and Russia say they have agreed to a Red Cross-led humanitarian aid mission to the eastern Ukrainian rebel stronghold of Luhansk.
The Kremlin earlier announced it was working with the Red Cross to send a humanitarian aid convoy to the region.
The EU Commission chief has warned Russia not to carry out unilateral military action "under any pretext".
Ukraine and Western governments had previously objected to Russia sending any aid into the region.
