11 dead in Gaza since ground offensive began (Palestinian sources)

Palestinian media put the death count at 11, including an infant and an elderly person, since the IAF struck Gaza preceding a ground offensive Thursday night, according to Israel Radio.

The IDF began a ground offensive following an attempted mass infiltration via tunnel into an Israeli kibbutz earlier in the day.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said a ground offensive is under way in Gaza.

Reuters witnesses and Gaza residents reported heavy artillery and naval shelling and helicopter fire along the Gaza border.
