Russia is outraged at Ukraine’s denial to provide access to the arrested journalists from the Russian television channel LifeNews for officers of the Russian consulate in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.
“We consider it a blatant outrage that officers of the Russian embassy’s consular department and, what is still more revolting, lawyers have been denied access to the Russian citizens,” he said.

“For several days, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission has been failing to obtain a permit to visit our journalist whose situation is worsening,” Lukashevich said. “They are facing absolutely groundless accusations of terrorism.”
  • Moscow “resolutely condemns such actions and considers them as a flagrant disregard of the Geneva accords,” the Russian diplomat added.
LifeNews reporters Oleg Sidyakin and Marat Saichenko were detained by Ukraine’s National Guards near the city of Kramatorsk, a major industrial and mechanical engineering center in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region, on May 18. Deputy Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Viktoria Syumar has accused them of abetting terrorism in the Donetsk region, claiming they were “members of terrorist groups.
