Viktor Yanukovych will give a news conference in Rostov-on-Don on February 28

Yanukovych said he was determined to fight to the very end to seek implementation of vital compromise agreements in a bid to take Ukraine out of its deep political crisis.

MOSCOW, February 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will give a news conference in Rostov-on-Don, southern Russia, at 17:00 (GMT+4) on Friday, February 28, a source in the Ukrainian president’s entourage said. The venue will be announced later.

Earlier on Thursday, Yanukovych released an address to the people of Ukraine in which he confirmed that he still considered himself to be a legitimate president. He emphasized that a crisis settlement agreement which he had signed with Ukraine’s opposition leaders in the presence of Western partners on February 21, 2014 had not been implemented.
Yanukovych urged the Russian authorities to ensure his personal security and protect him from extremist actions.

“Unfortunately, everything that is going on in Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) is illegitimate,” Yanukovich said in his address.

‘‘The parliament is passing decisions in the absence of many members of the Party of Regions and deputies of other parliamentary factions who fear for their security. Some have become victims of violent attacks and have been forced to leave Ukraine,” Yanukovych said, adding that those decisions were illegitimate.

  1. Fugitive Ukrainian President to Hold Press Conference in Russia...

MOSCOW, February 28 (RIA Novosti) – Deposed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, whom Ukraine put on an international wanted list on mass murder charges, will hold a news conference in southern Russia on Friday, an official close to him said Thursday.

The conference will take place at 17:00 Moscow time (1.00 p.m. GMT) in the city of Rostov-on-Don at a venue to be announced soon.

Anonymous government sources said earlier in the day that Russia had accepted Yanukovych’s request for security and that the fugitive leader was currently on Russian territory.

Yanukovych’s whereabouts have been the subject of feverish speculation.

He is wanted in Ukraine for allegedly being responsible for the recent deaths of dozens of protesters and was last seen in the Crimean seaside town of Balaklava on Sunday evening, according to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry.

  3. I didn't give order to shoot protesters - Ukraine's Yanukovych....

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich said on Friday he had not ordered police to shoot at protesters before he was forced out of power and the responsibility for bloodshed in Kiev lay with the demonstrators.

At a news conference in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, Yanukovich also said he was surprised that Russian president Vladimir Putin had said nothing in public about the past week's events in Ukraine. He said he had not seen Putin but had spoken to him by telephone during that time.

Asked about his arch-rival, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who was released from jail last Saturday, Yanukovich said he had never meant her any harm.............http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_02_28/I-didnt-give-order-to-shoot-protesters-Ukraines-Yanukovych-2717/

  5. UKRAINE.
